In the beginning of the game, the oases are owned by wild animals. Oases can be raided. You need quite a big army to raid an oasis with profit. The animals in an oasis multiply slowly. The less there are, the faster they spawn. It should be possible to get profit from an oasis by raiding it with a few hundred troops and a hero. You can see how many and which animals there are in an oasis without scouting by clicking it via the map.
There are two types of oasis per resource. Type 1 produces only one resource. The other type produces a resource and additionally crop. When you have conquered an oasis, it gives a production bonus to the village from where you conquered it only! The increase applies to the base production of the village and not the actual one.

Conquering natural oases
You can conquer oases with a hero, when you attack the oasis repeatedly with the hero the conquered oasis is added to the village from where the hero attacked. Remember that an oasis has to be in the small map around the village (center your village!) to be conquerable. Another way to say it, is that it has to be in a radius of 3 squares around your village. You need a hero's mansion level 10 for 1 oasis, level 15 for a second oasis and level 20 to conquer third oasis.
The example below marks "your" village in black and the oases you are theoretically able to conquer in red. Hint: You can only have 3 oases per village.
Conquering/attacking player-owned oases
To conquer an oasis from another player, you have to destroy the defence and attack with the hero one or more times. If the defender owns 3 oases, you only have to attack 1 time with your hero. If the defender has 2 oases, you have to attack 2 times. If the defender has only 1 oasis, you have to attack 3 times, then the oasis is yours. Hint: Heroes do not vanish after annexing an oasis like administrators (Senator, Chief,Chieftain) do after conquering villages but will continue to exist like before.
Raiding an oasis will cause your troops to plunder up to 10% of the resources from the village owning the oasis. The resources in the player owned oasis will regenerate in 10 minutes. Thus attacking an oasis 7 minutes after a first raid has occurred one will mean you can only grab 7% of the resources from the owning village. Raiding your own oases will see your own villages lose the resources, for a net return of 0 resources.
In order to defend an oasis against raids you can reinforce it with troops which can be sent back via the Rally Point of the owning village and are fed by this village.
